Best Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Brownie

07 Hazelnut Brownies with Chocolate Chips is Gluten-Free

Smiling at the memory of teaching my hands on farm to table cooking class at Esalen Institute and showing how to make these delicious, absolutely scrumptious Chocolate Chip Hazelnut Brownies, which happen to be gluten free. You can make these brownies with a variety of nut flours like hazelnut and almond flours. Teff flour, coconut flour and brown rice flour work well, too. And sometimes, I use fair trade organic cocoa and other times fair trade organic cacao powder. Always fair trade organic dark chocolate chips. Grass raised organic butter or virgin coconut oil and maple syrup adds richness and sweetness. Here at home, my edible calendula flowers are in bloom and grateful to Tracey Eller for taking this photo and styling it with as Kate Kilday of Woodland Essence taught me long ago that calendula flowers are like eating sunshine. Thanks Kate! You are right.

Happy Sunny Summer Day!

Summer Gourmet Getaway

Dreamy south facing deck of my home, early morning in July. This is one of my favorite times of the year. Well, I am biased, it is my birthday month. I love the summer heat. Abundant, Organic flowers, some for vases, some for eating, plenty to see in the lush gardens; seasonal veggies, loads of blueberries and raspberries to pick for snacking, adding beauty and nourishment. And by the way, these lilies are edible and gorgeous as a garnish for summer fresh salads.

My artwork is for inspiration and healing. Capturing the Soul of the Moment, I hike into the woods and take photos using natural sunlight. The sun calls me to a spot, I click the shutter, when I see that dancing light, peak light. These patterns are also called refractory patterns of light by scientists. I call them Jewels in the Water. Red Cardinal was taken in the autumn, with colorful leaves in a shallow stream, near my home. Continue reading

Ground Cherries, YUM!

Picking up organic ground cherries at my (Community Supported Agriculture) CSA, the Brookfield Farm, biodynamic farm in Amherst Massachusetts. Green ones are tart and yellow orange ones are sweet. Make sure you pick them up off the ground; hence the name ground cherries. Yum

Gathering Fresh Autumn Mexican Sunflowers

Gathering organic, cheerful, fresh, bright, orange, Mexican Sunflowers at my CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) organic farm in Amherst, MA. These flowers are pretty in a vase. With the flowers that have dropped their petals, I will leave them on the stalk for the bees, the pollinators love them. Harvesting gifts of beauty, pleasure, sweetness and fun on the farm.
