Many years ago, I was coached to spend a week just making art; hike on the trails behind my home, take and make more Impressionistic Nature Photographs.  “Dreaming of You” was taken back then on a hot summer day. I sat for a long time, watching and meditating on the light on  this shallow stream. Listening to the sweet sound of the gently moving water. One of my favorite places to go with my camera; take photographs, and just BE. Also, where, from a different angle, in the spring, I took the photographs “Jeweled Water” and “Monet’s Spring”.  Continue reading

Harvesting & Cooking with Organic Garlic

organic garlic harvest

I just harvested 80 garlic bulbs from my organic garden. Imagining all the vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, delicious soups, pesto, sauces, dressings, chili, and more that I will cook up this year for personal chef clients and those that come for my organic farm to table classes and organic B&B: tomato sauce, greens in garlic tahini sauce, garlic bread, kale, basil and cilantro pesto,  garlic flavored oils, sweet putanesca sauce, olive tapenade, zesty parsley garlic dressing, chili, minestrone, and more. Mixing and matching the local organic harvest with beans, grains, nuts, seeds, pasta, healthy fats, herbs and spices for tasty immune enhancing meals all year round. Delicious food as medicine. Meals for celebrations, too. First, I will hang it in my shed to dry and cure for winter storage. Continue reading

This is where I shot many of my impressionistic nature photos in peak afternoon light.  The spring rains and snow this year brought much life and spring green moss to cover the rocks in this shallow stream. A place of deep peace and beauty.  Continue reading

Spice Up Your Whole Grains

Organic, gluten-free, Vegetarian Sorghum Salad

With a satisfying chew similar to barley, gluten-free sorghum can be stir fried with African spices, or boldly dressed with a ginger miso dressing. Fresh mint, oregano, and chives also make a tasty dressing for this high fiber luscious marinated grain salad. Serve on a bed of lettuce, topped with goat or sheep feta for an Continue reading

Organic Perennial Sage

Sage rowing in my organic garden

It has been so much fun today gardening in the rain and also watching my perennial herbs come back from the brutal New England winter. Sage, as you can see above has lost its brown leaves and is getting pretty purple flowers, which smell great and look wonderful in a vase. Eventually, the flowers will die and the green leaf sage grows and grows. Miraculous! Continue reading
