My artwork is for inspiration and healing. Capturing the Soul of the Moment, I hike into the woods and take photos using natural sunlight. The sun calls me to a spot, I click the shutter, when I see that dancing light, peak light. These patterns are also called refractory patterns of light by scientists. I call them Jewels in the Water. Last night’s dinner was cooked with the organic local harvest. Seasonal veggies: eggplant, chili pepper, onions, collard greens, cilantro and dill from my CSA, the Brookfield Farm; organic tomatoes and garlic from my garden; wild hedgehog mushrooms found in the woods behind my house; organic young ginger and turmeric locally sourced from Old Friends Farms. Today, I had a sweet time hiking with my friend and community herbalist, Jade Alicandro Mace. As we entered the woods in Wendell MA, we soon found a beautiful lion’s mane mushroom on log on the forest floor. With delight, I photographed it and Jade took out her knife and made a clean cut. Many years ago, I was coached to spend a week just making art; hike on the trails behind my home, take and make more Impressionistic Nature Photographs. “Dreaming of You” was taken back then on a hot summer day. I sat for a long time, watching and meditating on the light on this shallow stream. Listening to the sweet sound of the gently moving water. One of my favorite places to go with my camera; take photographs, and just BE. Also, where, from a different angle, in the spring, I took the photographs “Jeweled Water” and “Monet’s Spring”.
