CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal TV October 30, 2014) – While you wait for the trick-or-treaters to knock on your door, make some adult friendly treats for yourself! “The Organic Gourmet” Leslie Cerier, from LeslieCerier.com, showed us how to make a chocolate candy bar that doesn’t come with a side of guilt!
Makes 4 large bars
1 ½ cups organic almonds
¾ cups organic raisins
¼ cup organic extra virgin coconut oil
2 Tablespoons organic honey
1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract
Pinch sea salt
¾ cups Organic dark chocolate chips or Equal Exchange Panama 80% chocolate bar squares
Coarsely chop almonds in a food processor. Add and blend in raisins, coconut oil, honey, vanilla and salt. Shape the almond raisin mixture into bars (about 5 inches long, ½ inch high and 2 inches wide). Melt the chocolate chips and pour over the tops of the whole bars. Refrigerate to harden the chocolate. Serve or store in a jar in the refrigerator.
