Fresh picked, from my organic garden, arugula, chives, red Russian kale and lettuce garnished with raw sunflower seeds makes a great first course salad.
You can make a composed salad with many kinds of greens: baby mustards, mizuna, and tat soi will give a salad a little spice. Fresh herbs like oregano, marjoram, mint, cilantro, thai basil; pick one or a few to add aromatic flavors. Then a quick dressing of flavored oils and vinegars makes a quick and easy dressing.
And eating from a wooden bowl made by a local craftsperson also adds to the fun and beauty of the dish.
Simple pleasures of gardening soothes my soul and nourishes my body.
